Dan Hult

Engineer, Leader, Servant of Christ

About Me

Professionally, I have experience in systems engineering, program management, and leadership in the context of aircraft maintenance and acquisition programs as a military officer. I have a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s degree in Engineering Management. I enjoy studying leadership, organizational culture, and process improvement. While this is part of who I am, the content of this site is personal and therefore may not reflect the official position of the military.

Personally, I am first and foremost a Christ-follower with an interest in Reformed theology and a love for the Church, both local and universal. I love to study the Scriptures and learn theology for my own knowledge but also primarily for the edification of the Church. I also enjoy writing, hiking, and road trips involving national parks and mountains. Many of the pictures on this page are from those road trips. I currently serve as a deacon at The Shepherd’s Church in Chelmsford, Massachusetts focusing on biblical counseling.

I have been married to my wonderful wife, Janell, since May 2025. Long before we met, a mutual friend sent her a link to one of my blog posts. We met online through a Reformed Facebook group and dated intentionally, going from first meeting to marriage in less than six months. Prior to marriage, Janell edited science fiction and theological works and worked in childcare and tutoring. Now, she is a homemaker, focusing on making our house into a wonderful home and enjoys hosting. Whether it’s a church event or a family unexpectedly needing a place to stay, she makes people feel welcome in our home. She also edits for me, so you may have noticed an improvement in the quality of my blog posts. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing board games, and cake decorating.

Leadership

Leadership is important topic for people in all walks of life. Here you will find my leadership philosophy, links to various resources to help in the study of leadership, and my paper on leadership from a biblical perspective.

Theology

Every Christian should be a theologian, which does not require a seminary degree or pastoral ordination, but only requires diligent study of Scripture and the doctrines of the Faith. Here you will find some of the basics that undergird my theology as well as links to useful resources for your own study of theology.

Biblical Counseling

Life is often difficult, and the Christian life is no exception. As a Christian, I believe the Bible contains everything we need for life and godliness, including all we need to face any problem we encounter. Biblical counseling is about applying Scripture to any situation and trusting the Holy Sprit to bring about lasting change through the means of grace. Informally, this happens all the time through discipleship, but some situations require formal biblical counseling.

The Staff and Hammer Blog

My blog about items of interest to me, mainly leadership (the staff) and theology to build up the Church (the hammer). My ultimate goal is to edify the church and equip the saints to live in obedience to God and for the advance of His Kingdom in all aspects of life.
